The Philadelphia native became serious about music while attending the University of South Carolina. After graduating, he taught elementary school before deciding to pursue a music career. Eventually, he landed high-profile gigs including an extended tour with pianist/vocalist Norah Jones. He released his debut album in 2005. Supply And Demand followed in 2006.

Melua was born in 1984. She didn't always want to be a singer or songwriter. Her ambition when she was 13 was to be a politician "I honestly thought I'd be able to bring peace to the world... If I ruled it!" When Katie was 15 she entered a TV show called Stars Up Their Nose - singing Mariah Carey's "Without You". Despite just entering for fun, she won the competition.
